Collaboration with the body of external co-examiners

Objective of the collaboration

At Health, we have ongoing dialogue and collaboration with the body of external co-examiners on the faculty's degree programmes.

This collaboration is part of our quality assurance processes because it contributes to:

  • Ensuring that requirements and content of the exams we conduct on the degree programme are consistent with the programme's academic regulations.
  • Ensuring that students receive uniform and fair treatment and that their performance is reliably assessed.
  • Ensuring that students are assessed consistently at national level across all degree programmes.
  • Providing insight into development opportunities in relation to the form and content of the examination system with a view to improving the quality of the degree programmes.

A body of external co-examiners consists of a body of appointed external examiners who act as co-examiners in external exams on the degree programmes. For each body, a chair of external co-examiners has been elected as well as a vice-chair. You can find the rules on bodies of external co-examiners in the  Examination Order.

Important for you at Health

Students

A co-examiner ensures that you as a student receive a fair and reliable assessment at your exam. They also help to ensure that everything follows the current rules.

Teaching staff

For teaching staff, collaboration with a co-examiner is an opportunity to:

  • Receive sparring on the content and organisation of exams

  • Keep up to date with their subject area.

Boards of studies and directors of studies

For boards of studies and the director of studies, collaboration with co-examiners is a way to:

  • Ensure the quality of exams on the degree programmes
  • Gain insight into development opportunities in the quality of examinations and their practical execution.

How we work with the bodies of external co-examiners

The annual co-examiner report

  • The chair of external co-examiners prepares an annual co-examiner report based on reports by co-examiners after each exam.
  • The annual co-examiner report is sent to the director of studies and boards of studies with a view to assuring and developing quality.
  • The annual co-examiner reports are available on the websites of the individual chairs of the external co-examiners.

Co-examiner meetings

  • The chairs of external co-examiners invite co-examiners to meetings with other co-examiners and to contact meetings between institutions and co-examiners.
  • The chairs of external co-examiners are consulting parties when we develop new academic regulations and in connection with the five-yearly evaluation of degree programmes.
