Highly qualified graduates with relevant competencies

At Arts, we take our point of departure in AU's overall quality assurance policy when ensuring that our students become highly qualified graduates with relevant competences. Specifically, this means that we use input from the graduate survey to develop degree programmes, and focus on providing opportunities for work placements and project placements, as well as for writing a Master’s thesis in collaboration with a company or an organisation. In addition, we focus on how we as a university collaborate with employers and how we can provide continuing and further education for a developing labour market. Read more about this on the subpages in the sub-policy.

AU aims for students to acquire both academic and general competencies through their studies and to be able to enter the labour market quickly in attractive jobs. The university will offer career-building activities and maintain ongoing contact with employers

1. Through their studies, students must acquire knowledge as well as academic and practice-oriented competencies that meet the needs of society

Based on strong academic foundations, AU’s degree programmes must provide students with knowledge, qualifications and competencies that are relevant to contemporary society, enabling graduates to navigate a dynamic and digitalised labour market. Students must have the opportunity to participate in career-building activities that support career and competency clarification and facilitate the transition from being a student to becoming an employee or entrepreneur.

2. Students must have the opportunity to collaborate with external partners and employers, enabling them to apply their academic expertise in relevant contexts and build professional networks.

All students must be exposed to and encouraged to interact with labour market stakeholders. Students must be given opportunities to work on practice-based and labour market–relevant challenges, meet potential employers, and engage with professional role models in relevant positions.

3. AU seeks to ensure the necessary relevance of its degree programmes through ongoing dialogue and engagement with employers of AU graduates.

At AU, students must experience that degree programmes are developed and organised with the involvement of relevant employer perspectives. Employers must therefore be engaged on an ongoing basis in efforts to enhance the quality of AU’s degree programmes.
