At Arts, we take our point of departure in AU's overall quality assurance policy when ensuring motivational teaching and learning environments for our students. More specifically, this means that we focus on pedagogical competency development and guidance, and that we continuously collect input from our students to develop our degree programmes via the assessment of the teaching environment and the Danish Student Survey. Read more about this on the subpages in the sub-policy.
AU’s teaching should be based on didactic choices that take the course learning objectives and the students’ learning needs as their point of departure. Instructors should make well-considered teaching decisions grounded in sound academic and pedagogical principles. AU therefore emphasizes pedagogical competencies in the recruitment of academic staff, supports the pedagogical and didactic development of all instructors, and recognizes teaching merits.
Students should be offered academic guidance that supports reflection and promotes learning as they acquire and work with the subject matter. In addition, students should have access to study guidance related to the completion of their studies, and students with special needs should be offered targeted counseling.
AU is a campus university whose physical facilities should contribute to a stimulating study and learning environment. All students should have a wide range of opportunities to participate in academic and social communities with a focus on engagement, inclusivity, and seriousness. Together with the academic environments and educational leadership, students should help create an inclusive study environment in which respect and integrity support everyone in speaking out against harassment, bullying, violent behavior, and discrimination.
