Collaboration with employers

At Technical Sciences, seven employer panels have been established – six for the engineering degree programmes and one for the agricultural science programmes.

  • Employer panels are appointed for a three-year period and consist of five to twelve employer representatives whose day-to-day job functions relate to the subject matter covered by the degree programmes and who have insight into the areas of employment. The employer panels must be composed of a broad mix of employer representatives for both private and public-sector businesses.
  • With the employer panels, Technical Sciences wants to strengthen the degree programmes by fostering close dialogue between employers, students and lecturers.
  • As a forum, the employer panels can help guarantee the societal relevance of the degree programmes, and that their qualification profiles reflect the current and future needs of the labour market. This includes helping the faculty to launch new degree programme and continuing education initiatives when needs arise in society.
  • The students’ access to relevant, targeted and well-founded career guidance is also strengthened through dialogue with the employer panels – and the employer panels are also a way to raise awareness of the faculty’s degree programmes in the labour market, which is an advantage for students entering the labour market.
  • The primary dialogue with the employer panels takes place through the faculty’s education committees, for which the employer panel serves as a regular consultation partner. In addition, the employer panels can also be involved in advising on the accreditation and evaluation of degree programmes, and when new degree programmes are established within or in connection with the areas of expertise covered by the individual employer panels.
