Master’s theses in collaboration with a company/organisation

Technical Sciences Master’s degree programmes include a thesis, which students can choose to do in collaboration with a company/organisation.

A Master’s thesis collaboration provides the student with insight into both the individual company, but also the industry and the labour market in general – and is a way to establishing contacts in the labour market even before you have finished your degree. It is also a chance for students to apply the theoretical and practical skills acquired during their studies ‘real-world’ data and scenarios.

Students writing their Master's thesis in collaboration with a company/organisation are assigned a supervisor from the university, who also acts as examiner. In addition, a project supervisor is assigned by the company.

The student, the supervisor and the company draw up a thesis contract together, which describes the purpose of the thesis, defines the topic, includes a supervision and project plan as well as information about the resources that must be made available and deadlines. The contract is signed by the student, the company and the supervisor and approved by the head of degree programme before the start of the thesis.

Thesis collaborations are assessed in the same way as ordinary Master’s theses and with assessment by external co-examiner(s).
