At Aarhus BSS, all courses end with a teaching assessment. This gives students an opportunity to provide direct feedback on teaching. The evaluation results are a tool for the quality assurance of teaching, and a development tool for lecturers to increase the shared knowledge and awareness of what best consolidates student learning.
Each semester, the boards of studies at Aarhus BSS review the results of the teaching evaluation. In addition, the director of studies follows up on the teaching evaluations in the director of studies report for the year, and the report is discussed at the annual status review meeting with the vice-dean for education, the head of department, students, etc.
The score for the total outcome, as well as the qualitative comments on content and form, may give rise to changes to individual courses or revision of entire procedures on a degree programme.
Consequently, students' responses have a direct impact on improving the quality of teaching, and it is important that as many students as possible participate in and complete the evaluations.
Aarhus BSS has adopted a joint procedure for evaluation, and this is technically supported by an evaluation team under Aarhus BSS IT and Digitisation.
Lecturers themselves can adapt the evaluations to suit individual courses, and more inspiration for evaluation questions is available on the staff portal.
