Degree programme structure

Processes for academic regulations

Academic regulations at Aarhus BSS are continually changed and developed on the basis of input from the academic environments, students, employers etc. This is crucial for our ability to provide degree programmes of the highest academic standard. Work on academic regulations and course development is therefore a central part of quality assurance at Aarhus BSS.

The board of studies for the individual degree programmes draws up the final academic regulations, after which they are formally approved by the dean.

Many stakeholders are involved in this process at departments and in Aarhus BSS Studies Administration. However, the most important ideas and input come directly from those closest to the degree programmes and the labour market, i.e. lecturers, students and employers, all of whom help to ensure relevant and well-functioning degree programmes.

Academic regulations at Aarhus BSS are changed and developed on the basis of, for example, student input from teaching evaluations, the latest research by lecturers or specific needs identified with employers.

Course catalogue

Descriptions of new elective courses as well as changes and updates to existing courses are collected and published in the AU course catalogue twice a year. New elective courses and changes to existing courses are approved by the relevant board of studies or by the director of studies.

Lecturers who need inspiration for developing courses can get help from AU Educate and the Centre for Educational Development (CED), which, among other things, advises on pedagogics and organisation of teaching.
