Teaching at Aarhus BSS is based on solid links to an active research environment and a business-oriented knowledge base. This means that degree programmes are developed in conjunction with a research environment, or are based on the latest knowledge within a given subject area. Where relevant, external lecturers, who are practitioners in the subject field, can teach specific courses. In collaboration with fellow lecturers, the course coordinator compiles the syllabus, organises teaching and conducts lectures/seminars etc.
In the classroom, students will meet active and tenured researchers with different academic profiles who conduct research in different parts of the subject areas of the degree programmes. Moreover, students can always get in contact with teaching staff, either in connection with teaching or by appointment.
Each year, Aarhus BSS Studies Administration prepares staffing plans to demonstrate alignment between the subject element and the lecturers' research area(s). Staffing plans are part of the background material for discussing the proportion of teaching by researchers on degree programmes in connection with the annual quality assurance processes, i.e. the annual status review and the five-yearly degree programme evaluation. The director of studies is responsible for assuring the quality of staffing plans.
The head of department is responsible for ensuring staffing and the proportion of teaching by researchers on the department's degree programmes. Moreover, the head of department engages in dialogue with the director of studies regarding the assignment of teaching hours.
