The evaluation of teaching activities is carried out at the faculty using a digital form that is distributed to the students via Brightspace. It is the responsibility of the director of studies to ensure the implementation and follow-up of teaching evaluations. This is done in close collaboration with the head of degree programme.
As a supplement to the evaluation of actual courses of teaching, projects are also evaluated. Projects are characterised by activities with 1:1 supervision between academic staff and students (possibly groups of students). Projects include Master’s theses, Bachelor’s projects, industry collaboration projects etc.
For each course evaluation, students are presented with a number of questions formulated at AU level, as well as a number of questions chosen at board of studies and education committee level. Furthermore, the individual course coordinator has the opportunity to add their own questions.
Questions for project evaluations are selected by the boards of studies.
Immediately after the evaluation period, the course coordinator can access a report generated for individual courses. However, the report is only generated if a certain number of students have been enrolled in the course.
Furthermore, reports are generated for all courses under an education committee. This report is made available to the head of the degree programme. Teaching evaluations are systematically discussed at meetings of the respective education committees as part of the ongoing development of the individual courses and the overall degree programmes. The head of degree programme reports to the department head. The department head is responsible for following up on teaching evaluations, especially with regard to staff-related actions.
Finally, the director of studies will have access to a report that covers all courses under all degree programmes that they are responsible for.
Evaluation reports are published on AU’s website, although any individualised feedback is not made public.
Aggregated results from teaching evaluations are included in the annual data package, which is discussed at the annual status review meeting on the quality of the degree programme.
