All degree programmes at Natural Sciences are research-based, and courses are taught by active tenured researchers. This means that the teaching is based on both foundational and new research, and students are given the opportunity to be part of research groups at the departments early on in their studies. Lecturers therefore know how the foundational science students are taught is integrated into their current research and can put it into perspective by presenting concrete examples.
In later courses, as a student you will read the scientific literature yourself and discuss it critically. In the Bachelor’s project and the Master’s thesis, students apply the methods they have learnt to topical research topics.
The faculty's principles for the use of DVIP in the programs are outlined in the document on the right.
Staffing plans document the proportion of teaching undertaken by researchers on the degree programmes, and the head of department is responsible for the plans. See Aarhus University's principles for securing the knowledge base of degree programs (research and development-based).
In connection with the systematic review of the degree programmes through annual status reviews and degree programme evaluations, staffing plans are also discussed.
