At Health, we have special focus on the first year of study for our new students. The objective is to:
Ensure that new students are in the best position to succeed and ultimately complete their programme.
Support our new students in the best possible way in their academic and personal development towards becoming independent and reflective university students who can take responsibility for their own learning.
Our efforts in this area
We know that new students can feel overwhelmed when they start a university education. It is important that we keep this in mind when planning and carrying out the first semesters of our degree programmes at Health.
Establish clear course structures and clearly communicate the framework and requirements for individual activities
Give new students an opportunity to engage in a wide range of learning activities inside and outside the classroom
Support our new students' learning, self-reflection on their own development, and their experience of coping in a safe learning environment created by our teaching practice and communication.
Focus on the first year of study is a joint area of priority throughout AU.
AU Educate has a page regarding the first year of study with inspiration for teaching staff and programme management on how to approach this work.
