The goal of the orientation programme at Aarhus BSS is in accordance with AU's objectives, i.e.:
- To ensure a carefully considered choice of degree programme
- To support the transition from upper secondary school to university
- To create the best conditions for well-being and learning
- To contribute to a sense of belonging and acquire an identity as a student
- To establish good study skills and working habits
- To establish academic and social communities
- Social and academic integration in the degree programme
The vice-dean for education has overall responsibility for the faculty's policy for orientation, and initiatives are carried out in close collaboration between the director of studies, departments, tutors, Aarhus BSS Studies Administration, AU Student Administration and Services and other partners.
The orientation programme contains the following elements:
- Welcome letters and online welcome via the joint online introduction course Study@au
- Orientation week in immediate connection with the start of classes on 1 September
- Academic and social activities during the first year of study
The directors of studies have overall responsibility for all social events in the official orientation week programme.
